Last time: Rafaella confirmed that the Holy Bank was diverting money to a smuggling operation.
Lots of people are going to SPX this weekend. I’m not – it’s very depressing. Maybe one day I’ll make it over there.
Recommended reading: The Secret Science Alliance (and the Case of the Copyright Crook) by Eleanor Davis (Bloomsbury). Preview pages here. This is a full-length graphic novel for kids which I bought out of interest because I’m a fan of the small press work of Eleanor (and husband Drew Weing, who inked the book). I wasn’t expecting to be anything more than interested – most children’s comics I either don’t understand or make me a bit depressed with their well-meaning stodge – but I absolutely loved this. The story was exciting, intelligent, challenging, humorous and well-paced. The layouts are boldy dynamic and use every trick in the comic-maker’s book to carry the reader through the tale of three young science whizz-kids united in their desire to invent and discover. The detail in the art was totally enthralling and would make Chris Ware twitch with appreciation. Highly recommended.
