Last time: The hookball match continued…
The first volume of the brilliant Shi Long Pang by Ben Costa is available for pre-order. I love this tale and it’s beautifully illustrated too – go take a look.

Classic layout: the grim leaders of the opposed factions, flanked by their respective scheming minions…
Actually I have more respect for the Papal secretary / Spider Empire agent than for Commissioner Sforza. The first seems more competent, in that his treachery is (as far as we know) unsuspected by His Excellency.
Sforza on the other hand is seen by the Doge as incompetent in loyalty as well as treachery… though maybe his sheer ineptitude might cause her to underestimate him. Assuming she lives long enough.

Interesting observations! The Pontiff’s secretary is certainly far more competent and accomplished in his subterfuge than Sforza is. It may be fear of the Empire that keeps him on his toes. Sforza’s ambitious and his loyalty lasts as long as its suits him. His boss is a little more forgiving too, at least for the time being.
