I started writing this tale in my late teens when I'd just begun university. To give you an idea of how long ago that was, the original title of the story was 'The Web' but I decided to change it when the World Wide Web was invented in case people thought it was a story about the new-fangled internet thing that everyone was talking about. Frustrating as that was at the time, the internet has provided the means for this story finally seeing the light of day after sitting in a drawer for almost ten years. For more background, see this interview by artist Garen Ewing.

Artistically, I'm very much influenced by the famous French comics artist Jean 'Moebius' Giraud. Amongst his own influences, Moebius includes Winsor McCay ('Little Nemo in Slumberland') and Herge (of 'Tintin' fame) and so I guess there are bits of them in the mix too, although I can only dream about producing something of their quality.
