Affectionately subversive tales of Her late Majesty the Queen Mum. In QMA#1 the Queen Mum goes on the run after her giant mutant corgi destroys a betting shop. In QMA#2, QM investigates mysterious goings on at her Scottish castle. All whilst smiling and waving in the unflappable style we knew and loved.
These cheap and cheerful minicomics (A6 size, 12 & 16pp) should hopefully amuse and entertain (unless you're a Daily Mail reader).
*A note on pricing: I print TOZO using a print-on-demand (POD) printer (Ka-blam.com) who provides an excellent service and a consistent quality product with which I’ve always been very happy.
Ka-blam has recently started a POD distribution service to allow comics retailers to order copies of independent comics without committing to buying large quantities. I totally support them in this. However, there are two side effects:
- TOZO now gets printed with an extremely unattractive barcode on the back;
- A recommended minimum price (in US $) is also listed.
I have no control over this price (other than to increase it) though I feel it obliges me to explain how I reach the pricing I use when selling TOZO from my website.
My price does not just include printing costs but other production costs (e.g. art supplies, shipping from the printers) as well. I also take into account what I consider to be a ‘fair price’ based on what other small press creators (in the UK) charge for their comics and try to balance that with what comics readers abroad might expect to pay, bearing in mind fluctuating exchange rates. At the time of typing (16.03.2010) my listed price works out at about 30 US cents more than Ka-blam’s RMP.
